* Known as one of the game's biggest headhunters, he knocked Mike Piazza unconscious with a fastball during an interleague game between the Yankees and the Mets in July [[2000]].
* Clemens and Piazza would have another famous run-in that year, during Game 1 of the 2000 World Series. On a foul ball that broke Piazza's bat, Clemens picked up the barrel of the bat (which had gone towards the mound) and hurled it at Piazza. Benches emptied, but no punches were thrown or ejections made.
* Was ejected in the second inning of a 1990 ALCS game against the Oakland A's by home plate umpire Terry Cooney for arguing balls and strikes. Clemens would later be suspended for the first five games of the 1991 season and fined $10,000
