  • Played college at Clemson, where he was a consensus All-American and ACC player of the year
  • Drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 1st round (1st pick) of the 1975 amateur draft (Secondary Phase)
  • Played in the Big Leagues with Oakland (1975-1976, Houston (1977-1988, 1992), St. Louis (1988-1990) and Texas 1991
  • Is Houston's all-time pinch hit leader
