George Hendrick is a pinch-hitter for California on the NES version of RBI. Hendrick is a powerful right-handed bat and should typically start the game from the beginning. Most sub him for Bob Boone or Bobby Grich, though some also save him for one at bat.
Bio
- Born October 18, 1949 in Los Angeles, CA
- Drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 1st round (1st pick) of the 1968 amateur draft.
- Played in the Big Leagues with Oakland (1971-1972), Cleveland (1973-1976), San Diego (1977-1978), St. Louis (1978-1984), Pittsburgh (1985) and California (1985-1988)
- Four-time All-Star (1974, 1975, 1980, 1983)
- Won Silver Slugger Awards as both an OF (1980) and 1B (1983)
- Batted .321 in the 1982 World Series for St. Louis
- Traded by the St. Louis Cardinals with Steve Barnard (minors) to the Pittsburgh Pirates for John Tudor and Brian Harper on December 12, 1984
- In 1989, he played for the Gold Coast Suns of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He hit .291 with 36 RBIs for the club.

Hendrick in RBI
Hendrick is a powerful sub off the bench for the Angels. His 849 power rating more than warrants permanent inclusion in the lineup. Some people, however, prefer to keep Hendrick on the bench and let Bob Boone play out the game. In straight pitch, some favor the more steady Rick Burleson over Hendrick. He is prone to the double-play (especially in straight pitch) and lacks consistency. Regardless, Hendrick is a quality player and his at-bats should be maximized.
